Whether you decide to live with a home placement family, in the International Student Residence or find private housing, Victoria is a safe and comfortable place to live.

Leaving your home country to live in a new environment is an exciting experience and we hope to make it one that you will never forget! You will feel right at home with your friendly host family or living with your new friends and classmates in the residence. Some of you may decide to find a private apartment with friends that you have made during your program. Whatever living arrangements you prefer, your home in Victoria is assured to be clean, safe and comfortable... a perfect home away from home!

Home Placement Program

The Home Placement Program promotes friendship and cross-cultural communication. Living with a Canadian family is an excellent way for you to improve your English and experience Canadian life. Our staff will match you with a Canadian family, which has been carefully selected for their ability to provide a safe, comfortable, and friendly home. Your host family will encourage you to join their daily activities and are there to help you adjust to living in Canada. All homes are on convenient bus routes to the University of Victoria. Most of our hosts live less than five kilometers from the campus.

Host families

If you have applied for the Home Placement Program, you will receive a letter confirming your request. Three weeks before the program begins, you will receive the name, address and phone number of your host. You will attend a Home Placement Orientation during the first week of your program.

 

Private Housing

Some students prefer to arrange accommodation privately, sometimes with roommates.

Based on the market prices of 2006, Victoria British Columbia:

Studio size apartment: $500 - $650

1 bedroom apartment: $650 - $800

2 bedroom apartment: $750 - $900

Canadian Dollars
